Homebuyer-Counseling Agencies

Homebuyers must complete an 8 or 12 hour, HUD-approved, homebuyer education course and obtain a certificate of completion before they may purchase an EHOP home. Below is a list of HUD approved agencies that provide homebuyer training. Certificates from agencies not on this list are also acceptable as long as the agency is approved by HUD.

Note: * If you are applying for a soft-second loan from the Los Angeles Housing Department you must also meet LAHD requirements for homebuyer counseling. You can find LAHD's requirements by visiting www.cityofla.org/lahd (click on "Home Buyers") or by calling (213) 808-8587.

* A downpayment of 3 percent is required if the Buyer elects the 8-hour course, while the 12-Hour course requires 1 percent.
